Hi, I’m Lily Johnson
I believe there’s a rare magic to the Hudson Valley—a landscape that feels both ancient and alive. Its fields, forests, and rivers carry long histories of cultivation and care. I come to this work as a seventh+ generation gardener and farmer, shaped by a deep connection to my heritage and a life spent working with land in practical, seasonal ways. It’s in my blood.
Through years of hands-on stewardship—tending gardens, composting, growing food, and caring for a homestead that includes chickens, ducks, and perennial systems—I’ve learned that land responds best to patience, observation, and long-term commitment. My approach to ecological design honors the spirit of this place by restoring what has been depleted, working with what thrives naturally here, and shaping landscapes that are resilient in the face of a changing climate—guided by the belief that how we tend the land today defines the beauty and balance of the Hudson Valley tomorrow, while honoring who came before us.
Your Head Gardener
My approach combines ecological insight with long-term thinking to support landscapes that improve year after year. By observing natural patterns, seasonal performance, and human use, I guide properties toward clarity, resilience, and lasting beauty. This work favors stewardship over quick fixes and values thoughtful evolution over time.
