Full Landscape Design
Full Landscape Design is Habitual’s most complete offering — a phased, site-specific design process for clients seeking a thoughtful and enduring garden or landscape plan.
Beginning with careful site analysis and moving through concept design, developed plans and planting direction, this process is designed to create both a beautiful vision and a practical path toward bringing it into being.
Our Process
Design Brief
The process begins with conversation and site understanding. We walk the property together, discuss your goals, observe existing conditions and begin identifying the possibilities of the landscape. This phase helps clarify how you want to live in the garden, what feels unresolved and what kind of atmosphere, function and beauty the design should create
Site Analysis
Before design begins, we study the property carefully. This may include review of site measurements, photographs, surveys, sun and shade patterns, soil and drainage conditions, existing plantings, circulation, architecture, views, privacy needs and surrounding ecology.
Once the design process is complete, clients may choose to move forward independently or engage Habitual for additional support as the project moves toward installation.
Concept Design
The concept phase establishes the overall direction of the garden. At this stage, the focus is on structure, atmosphere and spatial relationships — how the garden should feel, how people will move through it, where planting and gathering spaces belong and how the landscape can respond to the architecture and surrounding land.
Developed Design
Once the concept direction is approved, the design is developed into a more resolved landscape plan. This phase brings together layout, planting structure, material direction and the overall composition of the garden, with planting considered for beauty, structure, seasonality, texture, ecological value and long-term care. Depending on the scope, this may include a master plan, planting plan, plant palette, plant schedule, material direction, phasing notes and visual references.
Add-On Services
Implementation Support
Once the Full Landscape Design phase is complete, Habitual offers optional Implementation Support for clients who would like help moving from design into installation.
This service draws on Lily’s background in production and project coordination, helping clients understand who may be best suited to the work, how the project might be phased and how to approach the bidding process with clarity.
Implementation Support may include contractor and vendor matchmaking, introductions to trusted landscape partners, nurseries, artisans or specialty trades, issuing the design package to selected contractors, coordinating bidding conversations, answering design-related contractor questions and reviewing proposals for general scope alignment.
This service is intended to help clients find the right team and understand the path forward. It does not constitute construction management, contractor supervision or a guarantee of contractor pricing, scheduling or workmanship.
Pricing begins at $2,000
Site Direction
Site Direction provides onsite design guidance during installation to help preserve the intent of the plan. This may include plant placement, layout review, planting guidance, field adjustments, final walkthroughs and a design-focused punch list.
Habitual Designs does not act as the general contractor. Contractors and installation teams remain responsible for pricing, scheduling, labor, materials, site safety, permits, workmanship and warranties.
Pricing begins at $900/day
